Freedom of expression in Ecuador

Introduction

The freedom of expression is the fundamental right that people have to say, express and disseminate freely what they think without being harassed.

Article 19. Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Body

According to article 13 of the Convention, the elements that make up the right to freedom of expression are: the freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of one's choice.

Since 2007 and until now, the different regulations and public instances of communication in Ecuador, by promoting the debate and actions for a new order in communication and the exercise of freedom of expression for all citizens, resist an aggressive campaign of discredit from the media conglomerates that refuse a democratic redistribution.

Historically, 9 out of 10 Ecuadorian media outlets have been privately owned, so the State took on the challenge of reversing this situation and guaranteeing the right to plurality and justice in access to the media, both in terms of ownership and the possibility of producing content.

Conclusion

In a world saturated by immense contingents of data, images, audios, videos and texts, it is worrying that not all people, social organizations, parties, political movements or collectives enjoy effective freedom of expression that allows them to make their ideas and realities visible. That is why talking about freedom of expression means doing more than preaching.

¿Cómo lo hiciste? Estrategias y proceso. Recibí una clase de los temas que se iban a tratar, observé un video, busqué información sobre la libertad de expresión, tuvimos un conversatorio, hice un texto argumentativo en inglés, realicé la hoja de reflexión y subí al blog.
¿Qué crees que muestra este trabajo de ti?	Muestra mi responsabilidad y mi esfuerzo a la hora de entregar el trabajo puntualmente y bien hecho en esta jornada de trabajo.
¿Qué aprendiste?	En esta jornada de trabajo, he conocido sobre lo que dice la constitución del Ecuador de la libertad de expresión y he aprendido a realizar nuevos métodos de trabajo.
